Aces Edge

Expert picks,
every race day.

Aces Edge uses a data-driven model to rank every horse in every race and surface one confident pick per race — with full results tracking so you can see exactly how it performs.

How It Works
1

Two models analyze every horse

Our base model ranks every horse using speed figures, class level, recent form, and pace factors. A second deeper model then layers in running style, pace scenario, form trend, class movement, and freshness — giving two independent reads on the same race.

2

We surface one top pick per race

Every race gets a single ranked #1 pick — the horse both models agree on most strongly. A confidence tier tells you how clean the signal is. When the models disagree, that gap is surfaced so you can decide how much weight to give the play.

3

Picks go live race morning

Cards are published the morning of each race day. You'll see every race for every covered track in one clean view — grouped by track, with post times, confidence levels, pace scenarios, and the full card context.

4

Results are tracked automatically

After the races run, official results and payouts are logged. The Results page shows win rate, exacta/trifecta hits, and hypothetical returns — including a side-by-side comparison of both model pick records so you always know how each is running.

Confidence Tiers
🔒 Lock
Strong Play
The model has high conviction. These are the picks where all the major factors align.
High
Confident Pick
A solid, well-supported selection. The model likes this horse clearly over the field.
Medium
Reasonable Edge
A viable play with some question marks — worth noting but approach with slightly less weight.
💣 Bomb
Longshot Alert
The model sees value in a horse the crowd has underestimated. High risk, potentially high reward.
Reading the Pace
🟠
Front-runner
Leads from the gate and tries to wire the field. Thrives when running alone or in a slow-pace race. Vulnerable when multiple speed horses fight for the lead and burn each other out.
🔵
Presser
Tracks just off the early pace, close enough to pounce but conserving energy. Benefits from both slow and moderate pace scenarios — often the safest running style in a competitive field.
🟢
Closer
Comes from well off the pace and needs a fast early pace to set up a strong late run. The ideal horse in a pace meltdown — when speed horses exhaust each other, closers pounce.
Lone Speed
One horse is the clear front-runner with no other speed to challenge it. Uncontested leads are a massive advantage — lone speed horses often win at prices the crowd underestimates.
🔥
Pace Meltdown
Three or more front-runners are projected to fight for the lead. When speed horses battle early they tire late — closers and pressers who save ground become the play.
📈
Form Trend
A horse whose speed figures are improving race-over-race is often better than its last result suggests. We surface whether each horse's form is rising, flat, or falling so you bet on trajectory, not just history.
FAQ
The Pace Flow Graph is an animated chart on every race page that shows each horse's projected running position across four phases of the race — Gate, Early, Mid, and Finish. Horses are color-coded by running style: amber for front-runners, blue for pressers, green for closers. Lines that cross in the middle of the chart show where pace scenarios play out — a closer whose line rises sharply to the top at the finish is benefiting from a pace meltdown setup. It's designed to let you read the whole race shape in seconds.
The Deep Insights panel appears on each race page for subscribers and shows a detailed breakdown of the top picks from our expanded model. For each horse you'll see: their projected win probability, how the model ranks them versus our base model, days since last race, whether they're dropping or rising in class, how many standout past performances they have, their speed figure trend (rising, flat, or falling), and a plain-English summary of why the model likes or doesn't like this horse. Hover or tap any top pick on the race page to see the full breakdown instantly.
Picks are typically published on the morning of each race day, usually by 9–11 AM ET. You'll see the full card for all covered tracks as soon as a card is live. If you have email alerts enabled in your profile, you'll be notified the moment a new card is uploaded.
We cover as many North American thoroughbred tracks as are running each day. Coverage varies daily depending on what's scheduled — some days that's a handful of tracks, others it's more. Check the Dashboard to see exactly which cards are live on any given day.
Every pick is assigned a tier — Lock, High, Medium, or Bomb — based on how strongly the model's signals align for that horse. A Lock means nearly every factor (pace, form, class, connections) points to this horse. Medium means there's still a clear top pick but with more uncertainty. Bombs are longshots the model believes are undervalued by the market.
The Dashboard shows all active race cards grouped by track. Click any track card to open the full race-by-race breakdown. Each race shows the #1 pick at the top, a tote board showing how every horse in the field is ranked, post time, and confidence tier. Horses are color-coded by their tote program number — the same colors you'd see on an official tote board.
Win rate counts only races where our model had a clear #1 ranked pick and official results were logged. A "win" means our pick finished first. The Results page also shows Top-3 rate (pick finished in the top 3), hypothetical returns on $2 win bets, and exacta/trifecta hit rates when applicable.
